I’m not sure if this is the group to ask or if it is info group that maintains the calendar. Would someone who can add events to the OKC calendar please add the United Against the War On Women March/We Are Women – MO on April 28 in Jefferson City? The march starts at 10:00a.m.

Can we declare Sundays 7:00pm at St. Marx to be our official meeting
time like we attempted last week?

I’ll put it on the calendar if that’s a-ok with everyone…

Hey wasn’t sure where to post this. Just found some music I thought would be worth it to share. The first is a chliean song from the revolution and the second is a little homegrown tune you might have heard before.

    Ana Tijoux – Shock

Brother Ali – Uncle Sam Goddamn

Yo media folks, how’s it goin? I have a request from Facilitation. I would like one of you to volunteer to help moderate the Facilitation forums (Future GA Proposals and Past GA Proposals). Basically, this would be checking the forums every other day or so (can be done easily by just viewing the site RSS feed when you have a chance) and…[Read more]

We had our meeting last night. I updated the linked Google Doc in the post below with the notes.

    • Thanks for that Brian. I think it was a good meeting after all, regardless of it’s size in attendance. As you reported, we can try out using St. Mark’s, now that we understand all other groups are meeting there. But in the end, in my opinion, it being the same time and day of week, and the ability for all Media members to make it to that space,…[Read more]

Sorry I missed the meeting… when is the next one?

    • When is the next meeting? I may be coming to my first one as I have some wicked cool ideas. Today? Don’t you peeps normally meet on Fridays?

      • What does it take to schedule a meeting, why/who/what are we waiting for? I’d love to hear your wicked cool ideas, Ian. I have some too, ready when you are.

Media had our meeting last night. Minutes in some form will be available soon.
Briefly: of all the things mentioned, more media members needed was a recurring topic.
If you’d like to be involved with the media group, but just aren’t sure how, check for our next meeting (generally fridays) or join this group and stay in touch. There are lots of…[Read more]

    • I can try to post links from media articles on the main page, and, after reading some sort of twitter for dummies guide, i’d feel more comfortable with tweeting out things as well, if either of these are helpful. Does media have established guidelines on these types of things?

      • Hey Tony. Thanks. As for twitter, Amy has been spearheading that. Speak to her. We have a bird herd, limited to a certain number of people. As for guidelines here, it has mostly been official occupy kc stuff, but we were just discussing in the group meeting last night what else could go out. I suggested links to relevant occupation articles, etc.…[Read more]

Sorry for the late notice, but I reserved the back room of the Westport Coffee House for a Media WG meeting, tomorrow (Feb 24) from 6-8 pm. I don’t have an official agenda, but we can talk about the usual stuff (print, radio, WG needs, upcoming events, etc.). Please come if you are so inclined.

can the caucuses get email addresses? and can we make the ”OKC Merch” tab a button like the donate button is?

    • From what I know, the emails are limited to 10. If there is an email that is assigned that is not being used, it could be re-assigned. Talk (during liaison group) about alternate hosting that would open up email addresses to more was met with lukewarm response and there were not a lot of details provided. If this is important and we want to stay…[Read more]

      • I thought more than a few people were opposed to the idea of too much conspicuous “merch” advertising on this site? I think it’s kind of tacky and too easily criticized by either side, I haven’t seen anything similar on any other major city’s sites. I know fundraising is important, but I don’t think you’re going to make a sale to anyone…[Read more]

    • Actually, I had some of the same thoughts as Marc. Perhaps the Current ‘ Donate to the fund’ button could be replaced with a ‘support occupy kc’ button, which brings you to a sub page he mentioned, and that I have proposed as well in the past.

I could write that page (I just added a page with all the rss links on the site, if you all noticed)…[Read more]

      • The current placement with the dropdown seems fine to me unless someone takes it upon themselves to make a proposal. Lets leave the current WePay button alone though. Buying jumpsuits, fuel, etc., is most easily done with our nice green fiat currency.

    • Yes, I think what y’all did there is just fine and dandy!

Hey Media and anyone else: The Occupy KC Post is on the verge of printing the next issue and I wanted to include a box that would include upcoming events. But I don’t know of very many. I’m mainly thinking in the time frame between March 2nd (when we print) and May or June. Does anyone know of any scheduled events that we should include? The…[Read more]

    • We are planning on showing a documentary called Rise Like Lions on the Occupy movement on Saturday March 3rd from 7-9, it is free but with a $5 suggested donation so we can raise some much needed funds and will be in the second floor auditorium of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church (3800 Troost Ave.), there will also be a panel of occupiers/activists to…[Read more]

    • Thank you very much Ian. We’ll add that in.

    • International Women’s Day is on March 8th, Women’s Lobbying Day is on April 17th, OKC is going to the NATO/G8 Summit from May 17th the the 25th, and ”Don’t Put a Price on Pride!” Power and Light Protest/Alternative Pride Festival May 28th to June 3rd.

    • This is great. Thanks everyone! And yes, Ian, we will have an article on Occupy Our Homes. Thanks for the suggestion.

    • Does anyone know if Occupy KC is doing anything specific with International Women’s Day or Pride Week or if anyone is going to the Occupy the Midwest Regional Conference in St. Louis?

I have a set of keys now if media wants to utilize St. Marx, should we ever meet again…

    • rico replied 3 months ago

Do I detect sarcasm? You’re absolutely right of course. With all that we once had to deal with in media, I guess a lot of it has been happening behind the scenes with direct requests and such, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be meeting. Trying out St Marks isn’t a bad idea. Or at least huddling somehow online to go over current and needed projects.

      • Sarcasm occasionally, sincerity always.

Sounds like it’s the perfect time for media to move beyond AV Club logistics and onto using strategic media actions.

So, media needs to set a time for the next meeting. Fridays seem to work well, except for the conflict with KKFI. Suggestions?
