May Day Rally – Kansas City Board of Trade

On May Day, Occupy Kansas City will gather at the JC Nichols fountain on the plaza at 12:30PM in preparation to pay a visit to the Kansas City Board of Trade, drawing attention to the commoditization of food that negatively impacts the hungry and poor. We then, in solidarity with 115 other cities, will engage the people through educational outreach about the importance of May Day, the Haymarket massacre, and the importance of the General Strike.
OccupyKC in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street, Occupations across the country and the world, supports the Occupy May Day General Strike, May 1st. We are also holding a potluck dinner on May Day eve which will include a guest speaker, Professor Fred Lee, who will offer his perspective on the history and the modern significance of May Day and the general strike.
Occupy KC General Assembly has come to consensus to support and assist with the Kansas City Bradley Manning rally and vigil.
Occupy KC general assembly came to consensus to send a delegation from Occupy KC to Memphis to investigate claims of racism, and issues within the city and reported problems with the bus system and the bus rider’s union, and to help where possible. Occupy KC has not endorsed any unions, local or otherwise, but we have received support from unions and stood in solidarity with and participated in some of the local actions. We wanted to see what was up in Memphis first hand. What follows is the unedited report back from that delegation.

On Saturday November 11th, nearly 30 members of Occupy KC stood with 840 striking members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW)
